Orbi App

Hello, via the Orbi app can I give a device such as my hue lamp access to Wi-Fi but not the Internet? I see an Internet switch under devices that tells you which devices are connected to which satellite or router. Wondering if this is the option? Thx

  • That is what the app says, but I have no idea what it "means".  It should be easy to try.  "Pause" some device and see if can connect to the internet.  (Pick the wife's iPad.  NO - just kidding!)

This may not accomplish what you want.  My experience is that these "Internet of Things" often open a connection to the manufacturer "cloud server" so that when you use their app to make a change, the connection is actually through their cloud, not direct from your smartphone to the IoT device.  That's probably easy to test, too.

True. I have since learned that. "Pausing" a device definitely removes internet access (because I did it by accident).

Please let us know what happens when you "pause" some smart lights or a smart plug.
