Orbi RBR50 wont connect to App

Had a lot of difficulty with a new Orbi bought with old firmware in Jan-21. Worked fine for a month and then couldn't access it via app. Had to manually (via LAN connection) install updated Firmware. After 48 hours it eventually sorted itself out allowing reconnection via iDevice App. Firmware now RBR50 (Orbi Router) Firmware Version 2.7.2.104. App version on iPhone and iPad is 2.8.2.0.
But only iPhone will connect to RBR50 router, iPhone is fine. ipad is on Orbi Wifi network etc etc that has all been checked. I have deleted the App off the ipad and reinstalled from App Store. Now it has installed version 2.8.5.15!!!
Why would the app not update automatically. Very very frustrating to have to relog in re-verify device etc. Netgear you need to be better... And why am I not havign this same roblem on my iPhone using 2.8.2.0 of the App?!?
