Orbi Rbr850 not showing online devices in app
The app for my Orbi850 will 2 satellites doesn’t show devices which are online. I do not want to do a factory reset to fix
- Feb 25, 2023Yes the IPhone settings show that the phone is connected to the Orbi network.
I can’t see on my IPhone if it’s 5g but both satellites are 5g.
The Orbi app says it’s anywhere access.
It is the Orbi app through security that blocks sites and advises me of a malicious attempt on the iPhone.
I checked and you were right the IPhone was showing as online in the app but just was listed as Apple. Previously it had a customised name.
My bad - thanks for your help - issue solved

The issue is my iPhone will not show in the as being connected on the NETGEAR Orbi app on my phone, to either the router or the satellites even though it is definitely connected as the app warns me when a malicious site is accessed on the phone.
Could you please humor me with some additional information:
The iPhone Network Settings clearly show that the iPhone is connected to the Orbi WiFi network?
(the settings show which WiFi band the iPhone is using - probably 5G?)
How does the Orbi app report that it is connected?
- Anywhere Access? or
- Locally?
Is the warning about:
- The iPhone itself accessing a malicious site,
- some other device on the network accessing a malicious site.
iPhones are notorious for the new feature of randomizing the MAC address when connecting to WiFi
(see https://www.extremenetworks.com/extreme-networks-blog/wi-fi-mac-randomization-privacy-and-collateral-damage/ or dozens of other articles on the web.)
Could it be possible that the iPhone IS shown as connected to the WiFi system, but the entry is not "correct" because the iPhone has used a different MAC address when connecting?
