Orbi set up.

I'm trying to setup my Orbi Mesh.  When I get to Admin and Password.  It keeps saying "Logon Time Out.  Any advice?

  • Try using a wired PC and web browser to setup the system. 192.168.1.1 is the web page on the RBR.

What model Orbi do you have?

What mobile device do you have?

FURRYe38 is correct.  The Android version of the Orbi app is broken (there's probably a more technical term, such as "a piece of ...")  A new version of the Orbi app is expected this week. (and may be released this week. we'll know as soon as our phones announce, "Updates Available")

Meanwhile, the web browser interface is fully functional.  Connect a device with a screen larger than a cell phone to the Orbi and connect a web browser to http://orbilogin.net . A computer that is wired directly to the router is the simplest, but many homes these days do not have regular computers (desktops, laptops with Ethernet ports). Those devices have to connect to the Orbi WiFi before opening the web management page.  (WiFi credentials are printed on the product label.)  Ignore any warnings about "This site is not secure".  The login credentials are "admin" and "password" (lower case).

(I keep forgetting that many people purchase electronics just to use them, as opposed to play with them as I do.)

Fortunately, consumer WiFi systems (literally) require no setup except in the case where the Internet Service Provider (ISP) requires a user login.  Plug the thing in, read the WiFi credentials off the product label, and "it works."

In my case, I have used the same WiFi credentials for over 15 years and have over 30 devices in the house which are set up to use them.  Without configuring a new WiFi system to those credentials, only the devices connected directly with Ethernet cables would have internet.  I also use features which cannot be configured using the Orbi 'app', such as OpenVPN to reach my local devices from the internet, using a different DNS provider than Spectrum, etc.

We're all hoping the new app will be out soon (and that the problem will be fixed).
