Adding a 5th RBS850? It's possible I'm told but don't know how...
Morning all, I've had excellent support with FW advice from forum members earlier year and hoping one of you can help me now please.
Sounds mad but I have a need for a 5th RBS850 on my system. Our top floor has signal but for some reason its quite poor. I'm on latest FW and it's a Windows environment with some Android smart phones.
Spoke briefly with Netgear support who mentioned that system limit is 4 sats. Have to confess I did not check before buying the 5th. But they also said it is possible. Unfortunately I assumed it was just an 'add satellite' but this is not working.
If I 'add' then it scans and then asks press sync. But it does not find the 5th sat. Strangely, Armor sees it. I reset the unit and tried again a few times but same.
Does anyone know how to add a 5th RBS850? Would be grateful for some help to do that. Many thanks in advance

I would disable Armor while you try and get the 5th RBS to connect.
Also need to check it to ensure FW on the incoming RBS is same version as what's on the current system. If the FW on the RBS is too low or too behind, may not connect.
Try ethernet connecting the RBS to the back of the RBR to see if it gets an IP address for the incoming RBS.

Hi Furrye38, good to speak again.
Have to confess to not checking the FW or even thinking about it. When installed, it appears go through each step but fails to find. Updating the FW is a great idea.
As it goes, it turns out I am a FW step behind on 4 sats although I did the router! Worse again, I failed to note the UN & PW last time you helped me get to right FW on all devices earlier year!!!!
I found the post relating to that and I think essentially I need reset each device and then connect to a laptop on a RJ45 and do the manual FW update if I read it correctly?
Maybe it is best to bring all the existing sats up to date then do same on the new unit? All the sats are RJ45 connected. Shame I didn;t do a better job of noting the access details as I guess I could do the manual update without visiting each device.

Yes RBS need to be updated before the RBR is.
If you can connect to the existing and incoming RBS web page and manually update it there, then afterwards, it should sync and connect to the RBR.
