You can hardwire the extender to either the router or the satellite either would work.
Just make sure when you set it up that you set the AP on separate channels as the orbi system and with a different ssid.
Otherwise your roaming will be messed up and you'll have interference between the 2x systems.

So setting it up on a different channel and a different SSID, means this will work, but not as a continuous mesh . Guessing AP can not be part of a Mesh system. If this works , I need to decide to run another AP in the far corner of the house for the internet and outside cameras. Can a AP be setup not to broadcast?

Correct, it doesn't integrate with the mesh so you don't want it to have the same ssid or your roaming will tend to be "sticky" and not roam very efficiently. You can set it not to broadcast but then whats the point of it?
