Airplay and wireless printing problems
Hello all,
I am running the Netgear Orbi Mesh AX4200 RBR750 on my home with AT&T Fiber internet. I have the network set up where the Wifi system is turned off on the AT&T modem and the Orbi Mesh system is in Router mode.
I have a printer and a TV hard wired into the AT&T modem and I can't get them to appear on my devices when connected wirelessly to my Mesh system. So I can't wirelessly print, airplay, control them, etc if they are hard wired into the AT&T modem. If I hard wire them to the Orbi modem they work fine.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how to mitigate this problem? I am trying not to have them hard wired to the Orbi system due to the placement of the Orbi system and where these devices are located. I have Cat6 run throughout the home that runs back to my AT&T modem.

This is a classic result of having "two routers", which is often described as a "Double NAT".
- The AT&T has created one IP subnet and assigned IPs to the Orbi and those devices.
- The Orbi has created a second IP subnet, and assigned IPs to devices connected to the Orbi.
This means that when a connection comes from a device behind the Orbi to one of the printers, it has no idea where to find that device.
Likewise, when devices on the Orbi subnet broadcast "Is there a printer here?", the packets do not go out the gateway to find the printer.
The easiest solution is to put the Orbi into Access Point (AP) mode on the Advanced Tab, Advanced Settings, Router/AP mode menu.
