I'm in a hell of my own making! My old Orbi mesh system had a bad satellite and I couldn't find a new one to replace it, so I decided to upgrade to the RBK753 with 2 satellites. The setup was going well, then I realized I forgot to unplug one of the satellites from the old system and it was showing on the network map along with one of the new satellites. I was struggling to find out how to delete it and long story short, I reset both the router and the satellites to factory settings thinking I would just start over. While I was in the middle of my second setup, I had not yet connected the satellites when I got a pop-up to update the firmware on the router. Not thinking, I clicked to update.
Now I've spent 4 hours trying to get the satellites to be recognized again and the router won't connect to them. Am I correct in thinking they now have incompatible firmware with the router and that's my issue? Can I revert back to the original firmware on the router to get myself out of this mess? How do I figure out what version of firmware it was shipped with?
On the web version of the Orbi login screen under Attached Devices I can see the two satellites. Both have the name Netgear and both say Disconnected. They have MAC addresses, but no IP addresses, no connection type, and no connected Orbi. Neither satellite shows on the Firmware Update page. The router is on the firmware update page and shows it has up to date firmware.
I've tried factory resets of everything multiple times and can't get them to be recognized. They are sitting 3 feet from the router, so it's not a distance issue.
Help.
Can't. And I presume you don't recall or didn't see what version is was?
Something you can try with the RBS.
What you need to do is factory reset the RBS. Wire connect a PC to the 1st satellite📡. Already have the most current FW version files downloaded on to this PC.
Wire connect 1 PC to the back of the RBS. Factory reset the RBS, wait about 5 minutes. The PC will get a IP address from the satellite📡. The RBS will be 192.168.10.250 for Orbi AX. Use this IP address in a web browser to log in to the satellites web page. Log in as admin and password. Use the satellites 📡 web page FW update feature to select the FW update file that was unpacked from the .zip file. Then factory reset and then re-sync the satellites 📡 to the RBR.

If you updated the RBR before the RBS, you'll need to downgrade the RBR back to same version as what was previously loaded, long enough for the RBS to connect properly, then update the RBS first, then RBR lastly.

That was my question buried in there - how do I find out what the previous firmware version was? It just shows the current one, not what it was updated from.
