Hi FURRYe38,
I have a fiber cable from the ISP connected directly to a TP-LINK Fiber to RJ45 convertor.
No modem. none is needed.
I have contacted WD. They say windows should detect the drive using CIFS/Samba,
do they are aware their drives has a problem with NETGEAR routers.
They don't know why, but I am not the first one...
thanks,

A little bit vague. CIFS would become visible if SMB 1.0 is enabled. Much more I would guess WD want to say the WSD announcement (along with SMB 2.x and SMB 3.x)) and/or the SSDP announcement as a storage device does not pass the router for whatever reason to be investigated. This would mean all users of industry standard NAS (AsusStor, QNAP, Synology, WD, even the ReadyNAS users) would have an issue....

Hi schumaku and others,
Sorry for dissapearing. I was sent abroad.
The SMB/CIFS services are enabled already on my windows, as features of windows.
My Linux machine has SMB, too.
Still, I cannot see the WD home cloud device. The Orbi router doesn't report it, no matter what I do.
I tried the arp command. I saw nothing.
I even tried sniffing. I used a sniffer on the same hub while loading a file. nothing.
This is really strange.
WD home cloud support says it is a known problem of Netgear routers.
Netgear support doesn't allow me to open a ticket since my warrenty/support period has expired.
I think I have no other choice but to continue logging to WD Home cloud and use their awfull web GUI.
Thank you all for trying to help.

This setup video talks about the WD Discovery app (about 2:20 seconds in)

I would be tempted to fire up Wireshark (on the PC or Linux), open WD Discovery and capture what IP it is talking to.
