"A device"? Out of my 50+ devices currently on-line, I doubt that any of the "Internet of Things" (IoT) devices support WPA3.
Just to be clear, SSID and password being the same will allow devices to connect as long as the security settings on the new system are the same. If the new system defaults to WPA3, that can cause a definite problem.
Likewise, the newer systems default to supporting 802.11ax on all channels (2.4G, 5G, 6G). There are lots of IoT devices that struggle when ax is enabled on WiFi.
