Thanks. I have a Netgear CM1100 modem.
The firmware updated fine when I set up the orbi system, and I can always check manually for an update. I just didn't know why the app and the router ip address both gave error messages.

Ya, just sometimes is a NG service issue. I did check mine last nite, didn't get a service error. So not sure why your seeing this. Anything is possilbe when it comes to Orbi.
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last update?

You can save off a back up configuration to file, factory reset, check for FW update status on the RBRs web page and see if it still gives an error.
Re-load the saved config after checking.
