Connecting ORBI AX4200 Mesh with existing ATT BGW320-505 gateway

My understanding is that I would need to put the ATT gateway into IP forwarding mode (since no bridge mode exists) and then connect the Orbi. The question is, if I am going for a single NAT set up (reading that this is easier), does the Orbi need to be put into AP mode or kept in Router mode? Any specifics would be helpful.
Putting the Orbi into AP mode or Router mode, is determined on how you have your BGW320 configured.
With that said disable ALL wifi radios on the BGW320, configure the modemfor IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you should be able to use the Orbi router in Router mode.

Thanks for the reply. When you say "Putting the Orbi into AP mode or Router mode, is determined on how you have your BGW320 configured." what are the possible configurations and how would I know how mine is configured? It sounds like configuring for IP-passthrough will allow me to use the Orbi in router mode as opposed to AP mode.

If you leave the BGW320 configured out of the box, it would be your DHCP server and you would set your Orbi router to AP mode. You would still want to disable wifi on the BGW320, to avoid conflicts. If you decided to leave it on, make sure the 2 wifi networks are on different channels. If you configure the BGW320 for IP passthrough, you casn configure the Orbi for router mode. The BGW320 has a smart app for configuration.
