Do I need to separate router from my new ISP with RBK853?
Hi,
I am currently using Virgin Media, which comes with a Hub 3.0 router. I have this plugged into an Orbi RBK853 mesh system as I live in an old house with thick, solid walls. The WiFi coverage is now really good, so thumbs up to Netgear!
I am now changing ISP from Virgin Media to IDNet, so the Virgin Media router will go back. The question is do I need to purchase another router (either through IDNet or seperately) or can I plug the phone line directly into the RBK853 router?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I couldn't find whether the RBK853 is VDSL2/FTTC compatible.

The RBK853 doesn't have an integrated dsl modem. You'd need to buy/rent one.
Preferred modem is a stand alone modem.

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
