Dropouts with Orbi 960 router/satellites...
I just upgraded my old Orbi rbr/s 50 system to the 960 router with 2 satellites. I was expecting faster speeds and better range vs the old mesh. However, so far while speeds look good, I have had ran...

Dumb question, what is the factory power setting for the 960 satellites? Am I supposed to increase power settings, sounds like that would increase my range...

Power settings at default are at 100% max. The other values are lower, 25% and 50%. I tend to use 25% when I have my AX or AXE system online with RBS ethernet connected. But my house is 5k sq ft. Still great coverage at 25%.
- cohenfiveApr 10, 2025StarI guess I don't understand the benefit to range or stability if I drop the power levels. I could save some power but I am concerned about range.

Just trying to help you check and troubleshoot the system is all. Changing the power levels isn't set in stone so if something else happens, then you can put it back.
Just saying that for that size of home, you can run the RBR and just one RBS at 100% and see if this changes anything.
Then also try two RBS with the power reduced to 50% or 25% and check for these dropouts.
Again, 30 feet in between the RBS and RBR is suggested starting distances.
- cohenfiveApr 10, 2025StarThank you! I might try just one satellite and see how that goes. If it is ok, I may add the second in a distant spot to see if that helps. Maybe the sats are too close to each other in the current config. I appreciate the suggestions, keep them coming!
