Seen others with this brand having problematic issues with Orbi systems. Has Green ethernet features that can cause problems:
- Green Ethernet technology saves power consumption

All CAT5 cable. < Cat6 LAN cables are recommended at minimum.

Are there any examples of unmanaged switches that work?

NG GS-105/108v4 and GS308v3, D-Link DGS-105/108 and HP ProCurve 1400/1800 series switches work for Orbi systems.

Thank you so much - I will give it a go with one of the switches that you recommend.
If I use the current (green/energy saving) TP Link switch on one of the satellites (to connect other devices) will that be ok as it is not between the router and satellite? For example if I have the router connected to the satellite via one of the switches that you mentioned, and then plug in the tp-link switch to the other ethernet port on the satellite - to connect a few other devices - would this be ok? or would I have a similar issue?
