You can use default IP address on the 8 series with the CM2000. The CM2000 doesn't have a built in router.
I have my 8 series online with my CM2000. I used 192.168.0.1 and .100 to .150 ad the default IP address pool size on the RBR850.

As others report, all of the sudden CAX80 started rebooting several times daily after the latest firmware and not saving the settings including port forwarding. I am some 900 miles away so that did not work for me. I retired the CAX80. I connected and activated CM2000 modem and put Orbi in router mode. All 5 satellites connected and I have excellent wifi coverage again, but the previous setup had 192.168.1.__ and this time it is assigning the 10.0.0.__ address. When I login to the Orbi everything that has the new 10.0.0.__ address is connected and working fine, but none of my cameras are connected and still showing the old 192.168.1._ on all. Just so you know, I am configuring all this remotely instructing someone to physically connect and disconnect devices and cables for me. My brain is fried, and I can't figure out my next step short of resetting the Orbi to factory default. That will be a nightmare talking my helper through, until I can connect remotely again. Is there a simple way to get Orbi to reassign all addresses to the 10.0.0.__?

Thank you for the advice. All my cameras are hard wired via netgear switch, which is connected to the Orbi router. I have a feeling that my remote helper has one of the ethernet wires incorrectly plugged in. I will be at the location in a couple of weeks, so for now, the cameras that I had the MAC addresses on, I went in Orbi setup & reserved fixed ip's in the 10.0.0._ numbers, and viola, they are connected wirelessly for now. Once I am at the location, I will figure it all out. I have 38 devices connected presently and they are all working fine. I decided that having some cameras up is better than none. I will post an update, once I find the issue. I think it stinks that after paying $500 for the CAX80, that I really liked, Netgear released bad firmware making it useless and not caring how it affects their customers. They need to put more effort in technical support and admit when it is their fault.

MIght check with a forum moderator, there is a beta being made available for the CAX80 with 5Ghz issues.
