Hardwired Windows 10 PC will not have network connection coming out of sleep
I have a couple of PCs which are hardwired to the Orbi RBR750 (aka AX4200). Every time I wake the PC it will not have network connection for about 10 seconds. This is the message posted to the Window...
I had a similar problem with a hardwired Lenovo Windows 10 laptop. My practice was to close the lid (to keep the cat from walking on the keyboard), which put the laptop to sleep. When I raised the lid, the network symbol remained that stupid 'globe' picture. I would go into Network Troubleshooting, which would restore the connection. (Do not recall if I ever just waited 10 seconds. That would have been much easier.)
I finally did a trace on the ethernet link and looked at the packets with Wireshark. There was a very clear sequence:
Laptop - Request IP
Orbi - Grant IP
Laptop - Request IP
Orbi - Grant IP
Laptop - Request IP
Orti Grant IP
....
My point was that it was clearly the laptop at fault, not the Orbi. (I have since moved some equipment around and the laptop is now connected over WiFi so it is not trivial to perform the experiment again.)
