Having issues adding 2 pack to newly set up 3 pack
I just purchased an AX6000, 3 pack, over the weekend and set it up successfully with zero issues. Guess I wrongly assumed that adding a 2 pack of the same generation would be as seamless… I’ve tried m...

Yes, you'll need to disconnect the 2nd set of RBS from the RBR. Them put the 1st RBR online, I'd leave the 1st set of RBS OFF. Then with the 2nd RBS set in same room as 1st RBR, sync them using the RBRs Add Satellite feature. One at a time.

Ok! Of course the second RBR updated fine but wasn’t able to find its included RBS. Tried several times. The second RBR/S pack I bought is just 2 units, an rbr and rbs. So I reset them to try again. I figured it would have to find its RBS and update the firmware on it also, but maybe I just caused myself another painful pointless step by assuming.

Can try this, try ethernet connecting the new RBS to the back of the RBR and see if they get an IP address from the RBR and manually update the RBS to same version. Use the IP address to access the RBS web page.
Or try this to see if this works:
Manual RBS FW update after RBR was updated:
You need to update the RBS before updating the RBR. Keep this in mind for future updates. What you need to do is factory reset the RBS. Wire connect a PC to the 1st satellite📡. Already have the most current FW version files downloaded on to this PC.
Wire connect 1 PC to the back of the RBS. Factory reset the RBS, wait about 5 minutes. The PC will get a IP address from the satellite📡. The RBS will be 192.168.1.250 for Orbi AC/192.168.10.250 for Orbi AX. Use this IP address in a web browser to log in to the satellites web page. Log in as admin and password. Use the satellites 📡 web page FW update feature to select the FW update file that was unpacked from the .zip file. Then factory reset and then re-sync the satellites 📡 to the RBR.
- Sir_oclaFJul 11, 2024AspirantOk, well sadly the reason I wasn’t jumping to use my notebook initially is bc it’s a MacBook Pro and stupidly has no Ethernet port.
I tried to lan cable the new rbs to the new
Rbr but I have a feeling it will be a bust.
Keeps giving me that solid blue light after 2 min startup(the new rbs) guessing it’s bc the firmware on the new rbs is inferior to the updated firmware on the rbr.
Is there anyway to access the rbs via IP on the web without knowing its IP? Assuming that is not possible, especially without an Ethernet on my notebook. Oh well, I very much so
Appreciate all of your help and very timely replies and ideas. It saved me a lot of time, but sadly I have guests who want to
Be out on the lake so I have to
Probably give up on this endeavor for the meantime. Maybe I can at least now add the new RBR as a Sat to my original existing system? Do I need to remove it from
Anything before trying to add it to existing network? Or will it automatically do that when I go to add it now that its firmware is updated?
Thanks again for all your time
And help!- FURRYe38Jul 11, 2024Guru - Experienced User
There are USB to ethernet adapters that are fairly inexpensive. I have a couple for my Mac Book Pro.
If you can get one, then you can and should be able to connect to the RBS web pages to get them manually updated.
The 2nd RBR could be added but only as a wired AP in AP mode. It won't integrate or operation as a RBS. I personally would not recommend putting it online with the 1st system.
