  • what speeds do you pay for and what do you use it for?

The AC orbi's were pretty rock solid up to 300mbps over wireless.

The Orbi RBK22 is a WiFi5 design from almost eight years ago.  Designed to be less costly than the original RBK50, it has a less capable WiFi link between router and satellite.  Since it was introduced, WiFi standards have evolved and most newer smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. now include WiFi6 components (or even WiFi6E) which the RBK22 package does not support.  All those inexpensive "Internet of Things" (IoT) gizmos, of course, do not require (and cannot take advantage of) newer WiFi technology.

Thus if (a) you have lots of devices supporting WiFi6, and (b) are paying for higher internet speeds, then upgrading to a WiFi6 system (from any vendor) might be worthwhile.

Security wise, there is no difference.
