Thanks, makes sense re: Mac addresses. the router got relocated in the house, but the upload situation seems really random and sometimes occurs at the router itself. will try shielded cables and see if that plus moving one of the satelites resolves the situation.

and apologies as I forgot to answer the question about the AT&T router. The network doesn't show up when I look for networks on my laptop or phone and the settings indicate off. Because the router only has a single indicator light on the unit, can't verify that way. But I assume really off.

Unless it has been physically damaged, one might infer that the cable Netgear ships with the router is sufficient for the purpose.
(sorry to be confused) Was the Orbi router previously in the closet with Comcast equipment, but is now in the garage?
i.e. where is the AT&T BGW300-500?
- Dan007Dec 24, 2023AspirantNo apologyfrom you necessary for confusion on your side. Likely my not being clear enough. Comcast coax came into my closet where all the cable and possibly cat5 or cat6 cabling is installed for the house. The at&t fiber comes into the garage. I do have Ethernet running from there to my closet but unclear what the cabling is it was installed with the house when it was built about five years ago.
- Dan007Dec 24, 2023AspirantRight now for example while the AT&T router is testing at 2500 down 2400 up the Orbi directly attached to it is testing at 2400 down and 800 up. Similarly if I test my phone or laptop I get about 1/3 up as I do down.
