I tried to use the orbi app & followed the method as per app to connect rbs850 satellite to rbr960

Hello all, I tried to use the orbi app & followed the method as per app to connect rbs850 satellite to rbr960 router... I tried multiple times but failed.. One time it connected & I was able to see the rbs850 satellite connected to rbr960 but it disconnected itself after 10 to 15 minutes.. I did not do anything, it just went offline & started blinking white (rbs850).

This happened 2 times. Finally, I gave up..

Now I used rbr850 (router) and it very easily connected to rbs960(satellite). But I am not getting a good 6E signal.. I don't know whether it's beneficial to keep OLD router and use new satellites...

I updated all satellite & router to latest firmware v. 7.x.x.x from netgear website...

Can anyone tell what STEPS they took to connect rbr960 to rbs850 please...

As I simply gave up after spending 3 days on this issue...

Thanks in advance.

    hello Furry. thank you for your response.

    I again tried to reconnect everything.

    3 floors (bsmt/main/first)

    4500sq.ft

    For this size if home, the RBR960 and 2 RBS are only needed. Anything more would cause problems:

    earlier had 850with 3 satellites

    thought of getting the 6E network. but don't want to keep the 850 satellites idle in storage or for recycling. they were costly and hence want to use them and place them as add-ons in all nooks and corners. even one for the garage.

    SETUP1:

    RBR850 router to RBS960(Satellite) :

    Okay so as the router does not support 6E it, hence satellite will also not give 6E. however, I thought that the satellite is 9series and can support 6E standalone.

    so far connecting 8 series router to 9 series satellite is no problem.

    After a reboot or ON/OFF both router and satellite reconnect without any issues.

    Problem is that 6Ghz is not present on the RBR850 thus even if you could get the 960 series connected, if you connected something to the 960 RBS, 6Ghz connections would not be pasted back to the RBR since 6Ghz is not present on the RBR.

    SETUP2:

    RBR960 router to RBS850(satellite):

    a lot of difficulty in pairing.. I was able to pair again all was okay. BUT as soon as I rebooted the router. it failed to reconnect. same with satellite. either one of them -if rebooted or power on/off,  they loose the connectivity between them. despite of manually pressing the SYNC button on both satellite and the the router does not solve the problem.

    Actually, I read your post that you were able to connect 9series router to 8 series satellite without difficulty and have a stable network without disconnect issues. so I thought of asking what version firmware was on your sat/router and what steps you took to connect them ? did you do anything special ?

    Most likely that with recent FW versions NG has made it more incompatible between the 8 and 9 series. All my systems are on v7 FW.

  • One reason your not getting any 6E signal is that the 8 series doesn't support 6E signals.

    This Netgear web site says that the 850 satellite is not compatible with the new 960 system:

    The RBR960 and RBS960 should work well for you in the home.

    How many RBS are deployed?
    What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
    What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR📡 and RBS🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.
