Latest firmware issue Orbi RBR850 router
I received an email today saying there’s a new firmware for my Orbi RBR850 router. I went into the iPhone app to check, and it said I have the latest version which it says is v4.6.14.3, but when I Googled what’s the latest version, the Netgear site has a download for my device at v7.2.6.21. I thought it best to check with the brains trust before I go trying to install it or waiting for a response from Netgear. Can anyone help with this?

Sometimes NG doesn't auto update or put most current FW versions up on there auto update services. Users can manually update there systems if they choose too.
RBS first then RBR lastly.
Please review the first post here before hand:
- D-MarAspirantI received the same email. For me however, my router was already on that firmware version and has been for some time. Some versions auto update and others may require a download from Netgear (for example when first released). If you have the 850, you should update the firmware. As the other member responded, better to do the satellites [RBS] first if you have them.

Wow.... V4.6.14.3 to 7.2.6.21 that's quite a jump. I assume if I wait and let others find all the bugs it will eventually auto.
update on my RBR/RBS 850?

v7 FW has been out since Sept of last year. Been out a while:
Up to you to update to it or not. NG may or may not push this to users systems via auto update. So if you don't see it and do want it, then you'll need to manually update to it.
I received the same email recently and went to this forum just as you have. My web based page did not show any updates available. I followed the instructions for the manual FW update and had no problems. Was up and running in about half an hour (allowing time to power down and power back up as suggested).

Yeah, I upgraded as well, no issues. Odd they would send out a mail like since it can’t be applied automatically and given most people probably don’t have a clue of how to do it manually.

Were you able to get your system updated?
