Macbook Pro won't seamlessly stay connected as a move through the house

We have a 3 unit Orbi system, with 2 units downstairs and 1 upstairs. When I move from downstairs to my office upstairs my MBP takes several minutes (literally 3-5) to get online. Sometimes I can get it to reconnect faster if I disconnect from the wifi network, then disable wifi, wait, then reenable wifi. Note that if I just disable and reenable wifi it does not *seem* to reconnect as quickly.

Any thoughts on what to look into? I've searched this forum plus google more generally and can't find this specific issue.
