Need to label my Satellites (RBR850) but cannot see an obvious way to do that -Advice Very Welcome
Evening all. Have a 4 sat system. Works nicely in the main but I cannot identify each Sat. I made the mistake of leaving them as standard naming. Is there an easy way to identify each one such th...

That should work. It will not happen instantly. It may take 10 minutes (or more) for the status display to change.

😀..... even as a rank amateur I'd worked that much out CrimpOn (joke) but no sorry I think maybe I explained poorly in the original post.
What I meant was, of the 4 Orbi Sats, how can I tell (for example) where the unit called Sat-2 actually is .... i.e which physical room location? I know how to amend the device heading but not how to know where Sat-2 is.
I'm thinking a little like a Philips Hue bulb were you can press a button in the app and the light flashes up, physically showing the whereabouts of the device. I need try do the same with each sat.
I did try switching each sat off and thinking it might go red in the network map but strangely it did not.

Thanks CrimpOn. I will try that again.

Hi there.
I revisited this approach and indeed it did work. As you rightly say, it took a good while to show in the app. But it did work and will be repeating this on the other Orbi Sats's.
It seems a bit of a primitive approach that could be replicated in SW quite simply from an app with a simple routine. Maybe a good improvement for future.
But many thanks for explaining and indeed it has worked and provides a good basis for trying to solve other issues.

Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

In addition to relabeling your Sats, another very good way to ident which Sat is which is to reserve IP addresses for each Sat. I simply make the Sats have consecutive IP addresses starting at 1 above the Router.,i.e., if my router is 192.168.1.1, the closest Sat will be 192.168.1.2, the next nearest x.x.x.3 , etc.. With this IP address convention, you can quickly tell from the device level which Sat the device is connected to versus having to go to the Orbi app or web GUI.

Something I do in conjunction with web page naming, I put a post-it note sticker on the back with location name and if I set a IP address, on this as well. Though I only have two, helps to keep them easily identifiable.
