All in all I'm quite happy with the RBK852 system but I have lately encountered some problems.
I have bought several smart devices for my home and they often do require to connect to a 2,4Ghz network.
It seems to me that you can't seperate the SSID to have one 2,4Ghz and one 5Ghz network. Is that really the case? Correct.
As examples a few months back I bought a Mill panel oven that supports WiFi. The 2,4Ghz kind... Well, spending hours on trying to set up WiFi on that thing I had to give up and just tell myself I really don't need WiFi on an oven.
Now then, after theft and vandalism on my property I decided to purchase two Arlo 3 Floodlight cameras and an Arlo video doorbell. They are still on the way with postal services. While I wait I started reading up on the products and see that they too wil rely on 2,4Ghz WiFi connections. Some Arlo products use their so called smarthub to create their own network among the Arlo devices but the cameras I've bought can in theory connect directly to any WiFi.
My concern is that I will have to just return these cameras and any other smart devices I buy in the future because it seems like Orbi RBK852 can't connect very well to other things than cell phones and laptops.
Please if anyone can give som insight it will be highly appreciated.
The main problem is that the Mfr of these IoT devices don't set up the setup software for these devices to run on dual band mobile phones and pads. Phones and pads are dual band and prefer connecting to 5Ghz, not 2.4Ghz when singals are good at home.
You try try this. Turn OFF the RBS. Change the power output of the 5Ghz radio to 25% o the RBR Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings. Then connect your mobile device at a distance from the RBR to ensure the mobile phone keeps connected to the 2.4Ghz radio. After you get the IoT device connected, re-configure the system back to where it was.

Although I have a different model (RBK753) the problem has been occurring in our environment as well with several IoT devices. The reason that I reply to this thread is because we got the IoT devices working and it might help others as well: Step 1. we disabled the WMM for the 5 GHz radio by clearing the Enable WMM (Wi-Fi multimedia) settings (5GHz a/n/ac/ax) check box. Step 2. rebooted the router Step 3. connected the IoT hub Step 4. enabled the WMM for the 5GHz radio Step 5. rebooted the router Place to find it in the orbilogin.com software: Select ADVANCED > Advanced > Wireless Settings. The Advanced Wireless Settings page displays. Regards
