Netgear Orbi RBR850 - Loses internet connection

Got it. Very much doubt it's an IP lease issue though because I stay connected to the wifi (no internet connection though) and I can then go to 192.168.1.1 (my Verizon router) and 192.168.1.2 (Orbi router) without any issues. So the Orbi router never loses its dhcp lease.

when the Orbi router displays solid magenta then it means that it lost IP connectivity. This can't be a radio issue!
You need to investigate why the RBR is loosing it's IP connectivity with the Verizon router.

This looks like an issue with DHCP lease time from the Verizon router to Orbi, since Orbi is in AP mode.
Please test to set Orbi to use a static IP address from the Virizon LAN (has to be outside the DHCP range).

Thanks but I use a static IP for both the router and satellite, not outside the DHCP range though. Why would it need to be outside the range? My range is from 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254. I reserved 192.168.1.2 for the router and 192.168.1.3 for the satellite.

Like I previously said, only the Netgear Orbi loses internet connection. Every other device connected via ethernet to my Verizon router retains internet connection. So this is localized to Orbi.
Also, one more thing to add... Quite often, the Orbi reconnects to the internet on its own. When it loses internet connection at night, would typically be reconnected by morning. At times, it takes 10 mins to reconnect, at times hours. So it just goes through random disconnects and reconnects. - FURRYe38Aug 18, 2022Guru - Experienced User

If you don't pick a static IP address outside the DHCP range then your Verizon router, which doesn't know you're using that address, may decide to assign it via DHCP to another device on your home network. This creates an IP conflict and both devices will have issues.
If you haven't already, try adjusting your Verizon DHCP range to start with 192.168.1.4 and also consider changing your Orbi to AP mode vs. Router mode. Let your Verizon router handle all the DHCP address assignment and avoid Double NAT. This also simplifies what your Orbi router is doing for your network, perhaps that will resolve your connectivity issues.
- yototogbloAug 18, 2022TutorThanks. Just to clarify, I assign the static IP from the Verizon router to the Orbi router and satellites' MACs. So I'm not giving the Orbi a static address from the Orbi so what you mentioned isn't a risk. To assign a static address to the Orbi from the Verizon router, it has to be within the DHCP range of the Verizon router.
The Orbi is already in AP mode and the Verizon router handles all DHCP assignments.
Also, something else to mention, I have in the past used the Orbi in router mode and had the same issues. It's been a while so maybe I should try it again. - FURRYe38Aug 18, 2022Guru - Experienced User
Be sure if you use the Verizon router with the RBR in router mode, use the Verizon routers DMZ for the RBR. Helps avoid the double NAT condition.

Be sure to check with the ISP if needed to see if removing there router is supported and to ensure there interconnecting device, i.e. ONT or what ever they are using is working and will allow a external 3rd party router to be connected to it.

I agree with this assessment. Have you tried replacing the network cable between your RBR and the Verizon router? The RBR is directly connected to the Verizon router right, or is there a switch in-between?
