Hmmm. The box is deselected on mine and I can select/deselect it. I've had zero issues, so far, with the most recent update.

Box can be enabled/disabled on my RBR750 with firmware 2.7.2.15_5.1.16
This sort of inconsistency is really annoying. If a simple restart doesn't work, I would be tempted to do a "quick Factory Reset". i.e.
- Make a backup of the configuration.
- Do the Factory Reset.
- Using a web browser, go through the configuration making the fewest possible entries. (skip registering the product. skip setting the SSID/password.
- When the screen shows up offering a choice of:
- Reload a saved configuration
- Continue manual configuration
- Reload the saved configuration and the router will then restart.
- This process can be done in under 10 minutes.
Many times doing this "quick Factory Reset" will clear up goofy settings. If not, then the only remaining option is a Factory Reset and manual configuration, which takes me almost two hours of typo-prone data entry (and a LOT of swearing).

I would confirm check box operation with other browsers before a FR. Seen odd ball issues happen due to browsers. 🙄

Good advice. Also trying a different computer/tablet on the web interface.

Seems to be a browser issue as well. Chrome may have odd behaviors or no way of progressing while other browsers like MS Edge and Firefox offer ways to progress.

Very strange. I am using Chrome browser on the RBR750 and the box is enabled.

I have my box unchecked by default.
Using Chrome here as well with my 850 series, I get the following when I enable HTTPS:

I get that notice with Chrome as well when using http (not https) We are able to turn off that "always use secure web" option. When I DO enable the option, noting happens to attempts to open web sites.

The use secure option is only for the router web page.

True. I read message 33 incorrectly. There have been reports in the past of Orbi systems causing issues with any https web connection. Need to 'show down' and not jump to assumptions.

Good point. I tried again with Edge, and the checkbox stays selected/deselected when I click Apply. On Firefox (my main browser), the checkbox reverts to its previous status instead.

What version of FF are you using. Besure to clear out all browser caches before going to the routers web page.

This is most strange. Using the latest Safari, the checkbox was selected and when I went to deselect it and clicked on Apply, I got the error message warning about entering an unsecured website and to proceed with caution. I logged out instead and tried the latest version of FF. I was able to select/deselect the box but didn't attempt to Apply. I logged out, went back to Safari, deselected the checkbox, clicked on Apply and this time I didn't get any error message and the change was saved. Logged out, went to FF to check and the box was now deselected. Back to Safari and it was still deselected.
So it appears now that I have successfully deselected the checkbox but I don't know what the advantage is of selection/deselection, or how I was able to do it. I still have issues at times when clicking on Search links (Duck Duck Go or Google Search) but it is hit and miss.

Which option is enabled determines which error message some web browsers will display:
- Using http (not encrypted) web access will cause an "unsecure" warning because the conversation between web browser and web host (the Orbi router) is not encrypted. Most of us choose to ignore this warning because both our web browser and the Orbi are on the same home network. In my case, my PC is wired directly to the Orbi router. How is anyone going to 'snoop' on this connection?
- Using https (encrypted) web access will cause a warning because the SSL certificate on the router is "self-signed".
Many web browsers remember when the user tells them "ignore this stupid warning and proceed to this web site anyway." Other web browsers either throw up the warning every time or simply refuse to proceed. Annoying as hell.
Issues when clicking on Search links is a totally different situation, and should not be affected by this setting.

Thanks. I sort of thought that's what it was because I never use my laptop outside of my home network so things are secure and I can just ignore any unsecure error message. I wasn't sure if the other issue I see every now and then was related to that or not but it doesn't hurt to ask. The "issue" just seemed to appears after I upgrade. Other than that, the upgrade has been solid for me with no apparent issues or changes in settings.

If you do encounter browsing issues going forward, please document them.

So ya, seems that FF browser has an issue with this check box. Same happens for me as well. Only browser doing this.
