Good evening.
Mine is working in Router as well BUT I have one funny story with this RBK850.
Last weekend i changed to a 1Giga ISP (from 500Mbps) and decided to change my Deco M9Plus setup with 1 router and 3 satellites.
My house has 110sqm in each fllor and is mostly wired and connected trough a switch.
My former setup was receiving the signal from the ISP Modem in bridge mode and went directly to the main deco (router) and from there to the switch and the satellites were ethernet connected.
I bought and installed the RBK853 and suddenly the dropouts started.
Conection was falling every 10m, speedtests didnt even started.
1st mistake - when the ISP changed the speed for 1Giga they started the dhcp server on the modem.
a lot of debug, reading this forum, upgrading the firmware (to this one that we are discussing) and i had to roll back to the Deco, as the kids could not do their normal remote classes (we were all with covid).
Yesterday, i decided to try everything from scratch...and to leave the tehernet backhaul behind.
so the router (RBR850) went into the entrance of the house, one satellite went to the 1st floor and fired up the system.
the speeds were ok (5GHz connection was poor in the satellite but working). i decided then to put the other satellite, on the room under the 1st floor and the signal was good in both.
Suddenly every 10m the nightamre returned....
at 2am i decided to turn off the satellite from the 1st floor...and then everything went marvellous.
all of this to say,
1. why cant i use the ethernet backhaul?
2. is the proximity from the satellites blocking/slowing the speed?
3. am i doing something totally stupid that i am not aware of?
regarding speed (now that it is working) and reliability RBR850/RBS850 are almost twice as fast as the prior Deco m9plus.
Deco app was better and Parental control was easier.
For sheer speed, now that it is working, i do prefer the 850´s but it is anoying not to use all the capabilities of the system.
B rgds To All

1. why cant i use the ethernet backhaul? Be sure your connecting RBS to the RBR using the following methods:
Be sure your using good quality LAN cables. CAT6 is recommended.
2. is the proximity from the satellites blocking/slowing the speed?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

i am using it as per picture 3 (with the switch) (even tough it was connected on port 2 of the RBS)
2. is the proximity from the satellites blocking/slowing the speed? RBS 1 & 2 are closer than 30feet ...

It is working as modem only.
since the Deco Mesh system that i had, that it is configured as modem only, using it as a bridge on port 4 of the modem
The setup was working perfectly with the former mesh system

Do this, take 1 RBS to same room as RBR and connect it directly to the back of the RBR with out the D-Link switch in the middle. Let us know it it shows up as a Wired connection on the RBRs web page. So same for 2nd RBS as well.

So with the D-Link switch in the middle does the RBS connect to the RBR and show wired?

I would try a different swtich. This rev version of the switch has some green ethernet that maybe interfering between the RBR and RBS when it's in the middle.
NG GS-105/108v4 and GS308v3, D-Link DGS-105/108 Rev A and HP ProCurve 1400/1800 series switches work for Orbi systems.

I ll try to get a new one tomorrow...but it happens as well when it s directly connected to the RBR...i tried that as well

This morning I installed my brand new 853 setup and followed the guide installing 4.6.7.5
So far I see big imprevements compared with my old Nighthawk MK63 system.
One question, how do I disable automatic firmware update. I can't see the option under advanced, administration, firmware update?
On my old Nighthawk system it was located in the buttom of the screen.
I found this thread. But maby its because i'm a newbie... but I can't seem to find a guide / solution how to do it.
Thanks alot in advance.

There is no option in the setup to do this in Orbi.
