Since factory resets are such an integeral part of the Orbi, I wonder why Netgear hasn't implemented a  software-based capability to do this and carry user configurations forward.

 

Seems like this would be easy to code and implement. 

 

I am always hesitant to factory reset due to erasing & having to manually reenter port forwarding and reserved IP space configurations.

    Agreed, a PITA and should be unnecessary. The GUI firmware update doesn't do a full reset.
