New Orbi RBR860 issues
I had the RBR50 , RBS50 and RBV40 for the past 5 years and no issues! I saw the RBR860 on sale and bought it because of the faster AX technology. I setup the RBR860 and also using the RBV40 as an exte...

Just make sure the new RBS is placed out at 30 feet from the RBR and get the RBS updated to same level as whats loaded on the RBR. Test first with the RBS40v turned OFF.

Ok and thank you! I will do the 30 ft and make sure the firmware is up to date.
Also the past two days both laptops have been connecting to the Wi-Fi and not dropping. Weird how it’s doing that cause i didn’t change anything.

So been a few days since i posted and my laptop still has issues connecting and staying connected. I know now it is the new orbi because after resetting the laptop network adapters and still not connecting, i turned on my hotspot from my phone and the laptop connected as soon as i clicked connect and stayed connected. This is real aggravating that I finally updated to wifi 6 and now my router doesn't want to connect to the only devices that are made for wifi 6!! I really don't want to call Netgear support and be on the phone all day trying to explain this!

What happens if you disable AX mode on both 2.4 and 5Ghz found on the Basic/Wireless settings screen. Remove the check marks next to each box and select apply.

I know the orbi setup says you can use the same ssid as your older router for setup, but I think when you do it confuses some devices because it list 2 networks with the same name? Or at least that’s my theory! But it did suck having to change all my devices!!

Now that everything is stable, you may have lost interest in this problem.
But.... it remains very upsetting to me. I have used exactly the same WiFi SSID/password for over 20 years, through at least 4-5 WiFi routers. I keep using the same credentials precisely so that there is no requirement to reconfigure anything. All WiFi devices connect automatically. They cannot "remember" the old WiFi router. This is the same thing that happens when there is a power outage or I deliberately reboot the router. The WiFi disappears. In a few minutes (or hours) devices notice a WiFi SSID that they recognize and attempt to connect. They provide the WiFi password that they associate with that particular SSID, and the WiFi system connects them.
Do I understand correctly that when setting up the 860, every part of the existing WiFi system is powered off. (Including the RBS40V.) If any device displays available WiFi systems, that old SSID does not appear. It does not appear until the 860 router default SSID/password is replaced with the previous SSID/password andn the 860 router restarts its WiFi system. And at that point, every device that attempts to connect to WiFi fails???
