No Internet via Orbi WiFi
Hello, I am using an Netgear Orbi model RBR850 with Firmware V3.2.18.1 and App Version 2.9.6.0. It is wired to a Vodafone Arris TG3442DE cable modem with 1000 Mbit and I am based in Germany.
Arris has go a stable Vodafone Internet connection. Arris own WiFi is deactivated. Devices (e.g. ThinkPad, Smart TV, …) wired to Arris are working fine.
During the day the Internet on WiFi connected devices (mainly Apple ones, e.g. iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12, MacBook Air) to the Orbi drops and is not available. Also, the Orbi App shows “Internet: Offline”. Sometimes the Internet for the WiFi devices is back after 1-2 hours and sometimes a reboot of the Arris or a reboot of the Orbi help.
Smart Home Cameras connected via 2.4 Ghz WiFi work fine, also when other WiFI connected devices do not work. Also the Amazon Echo connected via 5 Ghz WiFi works fine. But a wired connection directly to the Orbi Satellite also drops. A wired connection directly to the Arris works as stated above.
In the past the Speed test of Vodafone and the Speed test of Orbi on the iPhone were showing 800 – 950 Mbit. Now the Speed test only shows 90 Mbit, when the Internet is working.
Everything was running smooth over 10 months. I do not know what changed the only thing that comes to my mind is the firmware upgrade of the Orbi. I also did a complete reset of the Orbi and set up a new WiFi with new SSID, which helped for 2 days, but now the same Problem again.
Any ideas what to do? Thanks David
Is the Orbi in AP mode?
Is ALL wifi radios on the ISP modem fully turned OFF?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
https://kb.netgear.com/31029/Where-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satelliteWhat channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Is Armor or Traffic Meter enabled?

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Orbi AX product. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Orbi AX and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this "general Orbi" forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode?
Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop- David___Guide
Thanks. It is in Router mode and I am just switching to AP mode now. David
