Old (but working) usb wifi adapter cannot see RBK752 network

Correct model (RBK752, Orbi AX4200 in title).

We purchased the Orbi recently and have been very impressed with it generally.  However, I recently got a slightly older computer running, which relies on an older wifi usb adapter.  The adapter in question is an Edimax EW-7811Un (linked here: https://www.amazon.com/Edimax-EW-7811Un-150Mbps-Raspberry-Supports/dp/B003MTTJOY), an 802.11n based wifi card that maxed out at 150mbps.

Granted it is old, but the card has no problem connecting to other networks.. be it my phone's hotspot, the old FiOS router, or seeing those of our neighbors.

I'm assuming this has to be due to some setting, either on the router itself or the wifi card?  We recently bought a newer usb adapter which sees the router fine, but i'd hate to toss a perfectly good wifi adapter if i don't need to

Thanks!  Let me know if you need more info

  • Be sure your using the latest version of drive from the mfr for that adapter.

Try disabling AX mode on 2.4Ghz.

  • I've found that setting CTS/RTS Threshold to 2347 in orbilogin.com's Advanced... Advanced... Wireless Settings also improves compatibility with older wireless devices.
