Regarding speed you would have to move the satellites closer to the router. Check your WIFI channel to make sure there is not a lot of traffic on it, and if so, change it to a cleaner channel.
Disable Circle, Armor and uncheck 20/40Mhz Coexistence, Enable WMM
You should be able to use Powerline Adapters. Just make sure you get the pass-through type with a plug socket built-in.
