Apr 29, 2022Orbi 850 VLAN - Can you configure VLANs with the desktop (not Insight) in AP mode?
I see that I have options in Insight but the desktop shows no LAN or WAN options in AP mode. Advanced->LAN VLAN settings or whatever...doesn't exist as an option. For some reason my satellites that...

Makes perfect sense.
Not surprised and not disappointed. It was a corner case that really only makes sense in my world.
With the ability to connect over the MoCA I may end up just going to a wireless backhaul as anything that connects wirelessly doesn't need the speed or stability of hardwired solutions. That will eliminate the need for a VLAN.
Really appreciate your help!
Just saved me about five hours of investigation and troubleshooting.

What actual router do you have? The RBK850 series doesn't support insight. That's the pro series.
And here's features disabled in AP mode

Looks like it's not PRO.
Weird.
Can I do VLANs in AP mode with this model?

vlan's for the consumer version are for iptv/fibre setups.
Just viewing the details shouldn't have made the satellite stop working through.
Are they being used with a wireless backhaul or wired?

You folks helped me the other day on this. It was working with your help...
But I was hoping to break out the traffic that doesn't need the router traffic and send it directly to the internet using VLANs.
So I popped open the Insight app and was looking around...got to the end of the management VLAN walkthrough and it said "push config." No other options and I didn't make any changes so I pushed.
What I don't know is if the satellites weren't working before I did that. I had made no other changes so my thought is I jacked it up.
I've bounced the router and satellites with no luck. I may go ahead and resynch and see if that helps...but as they're on 3 different floors and I'm old and out of shape that's a chore. LOL.
I have the satellites going to a managed switch that's connected to a MoCA network that connects to the LAN ports on the router. (complicated...basically Satellite -> LAN side switch -> MoCA -> Router -> WAN side Switch -> WAN/LAN router -> modem -> Internet.)
