Orbi AC3000 RBK53S cable connection DOCSIS 3,1
We ordered yesterday Orbi AC3000 RBK53S and today we found out we need to change our internet from satilite to cable.
The cable company (Comcast) said we need a modem that is on their approved list. Well, Orbi AC3000 RBK53S is NOT but they do have CBR750 and other Netgear products.
How can we go forward with our purchase of Orbi AC3000 RBK53S?
If you already bought the RBK53s, and your changing to a cable ISP, find a cable modem that is approved on the cable ISPs approved list. You can buy one of these at online retailers. Or you can use an ISP provided modem, ask them about a stand alone modem only if they have one. Once you have a cable modem, you'll need to have the ISP associate the modem on there system. Something to contact them about.
Once it's online with the ISP, you can connect the Orbi RBR to the modem and setup the Orbi system for your needs. The RBK53s needs a modem or ONT connect too to get ISP and Internet services thru it.

I don't see a reason to have to change, if you have a router connected to the Satellite.
With that said, if you want DOCSIS 3.1, the Arris SB8200 and CM8200 are compatible. Netgear also makes DOCSIS 3.1 modems. Since you have the Orbi kit, I would stay with a modem only model like the SB8200 and not a modem/router combo.
Satilite is ethernet to a aircube and Comcast said we would need cable connection. If we did buy say, SB8200, is instruction available to set the modem to the RBK53s?

You can connect the Orbi WAN to the Aircube Lan and run the setup for the orbi and stay on satellite.
If going to Comcast, you are correct, you need a DOCSIS modem with a cable connetion.
You would need no directions for plugging in the SB8200. You contact Comcast, give them the mac address of the SB8200, plug the coax in and you are ready to turn on. You would then connect the Orbi router to one of the ports on the back of the SB820. Then you can configure the Orbi router and satellites, following the installation instructions. The Arris SB8200 is a nice fast modem. I have one.
NGs CM1000, 1100 and 1200 modesm are D3.1 compliant as well. These are stand alone modems that work with Orbi systems.
