Orbi (AP Mode): No Internet on Base Station
Hi dear community,
after a lot of trial and error and even more research, I'm turning to you because I just can't get ahead.
The original plan was to use Orbi as a router behind a DSL modem. Since I did not succeed, Orbi is now operated as an access point.
However, there are some errors and I really hope you can help me.
# Setup
TELEKOM SPEEDPORT Smart
The Speedport is the modem and the router (uses Google DNS Server).
ORBI RBK353 (1x router + 2x satellite)
Orbi was configured as access point (via "advanced" panel in browser).
All Orbis are plugged into the switch.
Orbi Base Firmware Version is V4.3.4.7_1.9.53 (latest).
# Wiring
SPEEDPORT --- SWITCH
'------ ORBI Base (via Lan 1)
'------ ORBI Satellite
'------ ORBI Satellite
# What works
- The satellites are connected via ethernet backhaul.
- The satellites have proper internet.
# What doesn't works
- Orbi App only works when iPhone is "client" of the base station (on computer only possible via IP of Orbi base)
- Orbi App says "no internet" most of the time
- Main problem: if the device (i.e. iPhone) is "client" of the base station there is no proper internet (but perfect wlan): Some websites work (i.e. google) but most just doesn't work (no error message, just no answer).
Example:
iPhone is connected with satellite and is able to open website. Walking to next satellite and iPhone still opens website when reloading.
Walking over to base station and reloading: infinite loading.
# What I've tried so far
- Checked if there is any protection / blocker on router (which isn't)
- Different ports in Orbi Base (LAN / WAN) (all the same behaviour)
- Much research
Thank you very much in advance!
Best
Alex

do you have your incoming line from the modem going to wan port on the orbi base and then the base connected to the switch via lan port?
And then the satellites connected to switch?

I had now tried that last.
The wired devices (PC) are also connected to the switch.
The result is that even with these devices then only Google can be opened in the browser. Here is a diagram for clarification:
Modem/Router

(WAN Port)
Orbi Base
(LAN PORT 1)
|
Switch
| | |____ Orbi Satelite 1
| |______ Orbi Satelite 2
|________ Other Clients
I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. I hope now someone has a good idea. :-/
- If you put your modem/router combo device into passthrough mode or the orbi's ip address into its dmz and then use the orbi as router (in router mode), what happens?
