Orbi not 750 does not show internet with Spectrum

I just purchased the RBR750 from Costco and get through set up only to be told the router does not find internet. I am setting this up with my spectrum gateway. Internet works fine with the spectrum modem - so looking for support on how to get this going. I have been trying for 2 days and very close to taking it back to Costco. The user set up experience sucks.

  • If your ISP modem already has a built in router and wifi,This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

    Couple of options,
    1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
    2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
    3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

      Guide

I set up the same Costco system in my house 2 weeks ago. I am also on Spectrum. I'm sure your proiblem is exactly as Furry said. My setup installed without a hitch and has been running smoothly since installation, even after the version 16.22 firmware was installed. Prior to the 750, I had the RBR50 system for several years. I ran that in AP mode and it was very good. However, since I upgraded the internet to the Spectrum Gigabit service, I replaced their equipment with a Netgear Nighthawk CM2000 modem and use the Orbi as the router. The difference in how this system performs versus using the Spectrum Modem and Router setup is night and day. The Homekit system has never run so smoothly, even the WEMO devices behave themselves. I don't know which level your internet is but I would recommend that you seriously consider using your own modem and the Orbi as your router. By the way my internet speed tops out at 940 and our iPhones can hit 930 while connecting to a satellite and average in the 800 most of the day.

Best of luck, this is a fantastic system and I think if you follow Furry's advice you are going to be very happy.
