You have run into the "Catch22" of the RBS50Yv2.  It functions in satellite mode only with the original 802.11ac Orbi products (RBR50,, RBR40, RBR20).  With all other Orbi routers, it functions only in extender mode.

The 5G WiFi radios used for the 'backhaul' connection with the original Orbi routrers are 802.11ac chips.  The 5G WiFi radios used for backhaul with the AX series use 802.11ax chips.  Thus, the RBS50Yv2 is not compatible with the AX product  backhaul network.

Yes. A satellite uses 802.11 standards to facilitate seamless roaming between WiFi access points.  A WiFi extender does not.  What will happen is a device will continue to use a WiFi access point until the signal becomes so weak that it "gives up" and searches for a new connection.  For example, when you leave home, before you get to the end of the block, your cell phone will give up on WiFi and switch to LTE.  When you arrive somewhere that has a WiFi signal that the phone recognizes, it will connect automatically to WiFi (like, when you return home or get to that Starbucks where you enjoy their "Free WiFi".)

People may complain, "Why is the WiFi so slow here on the patio?"  Have them turn WiFi off and back on again.

Devices which do not roam, such as security cameras, pool controllers, smart plugs, TVs, smart speakers, etc. will connect to the RBS50Y and "that's it".

Some customers have elected to install a regular AX satellite inside a weatherproof enclosure.
