Orbi RBR 850 and Australian NBN
Hi, this is my first post here. My question is can an Orbi RBR 850 connect directly to an Arris CM8200 Cable Modem? I'm in Australia, and my current setup is a NBN Arris Cable modem connected to my I...

Thanks for prompt reply. Yeah, I've seen all these options over the last few weeks of investigating . What I was asking is whether I can remove the ISP's Smart Modem/router all together, and connect the Orbi directly into the NBN Cable Modem which is upstream from the ISP's Smart Modem/Router. As mentioned, at present my setup is NBN Cable modem(Arris CM8200), downstream to ISP's Smart Modem/Router(not in bridge mode, just wifi disabled), downstream to Orbi RBR850 (+ satellite). Works fine.
thanks again

Will take just a minute to find out, as long as the Orbi is in 'router' mode. My guess is, "certainly."

Thanks. That would be great. I am apprehensive concerning all this stuff as our internet access here works fine at present, even though it looks like I haven't set it up correctly. I am just wanting to get this Roon Arc app accessible remotely. I also want to get the Orbi working to it's best capabilities. I just thought after reading all the setup needed to placing the existing setup into bridge mode (, and all previous settings being wiped if I later disabled bridge mode), just hooking the Orbi up directly to the NBN modem may be the easiest option. If I ever needed the ISP's Modem /Router again, I could just plug it back in as it was before? I'm just not sure how complicated this direct hooking up orbi to NBN modem is.

Would that just be a simple matter of attaching the ethernet connection directly to the Orbi from the NBN box. Is there a particular sequence to this procedure, eg, power down the orbi first etc? Do I need to change settings on the devices anywhere and at what stage? Sorry about all these questions .I don't want to create problems I can't fix if this doesn't work.🙂.

Generally, one would power off both the NBN box and the Orbi.
Connect the Ethernet cable.
Power up the NBN box and wait 2-3 minutes.
Power up the Orbi.
- jobyfamOct 13, 2022GuideThanks for prompt reply. And if it doesn’t work ….power orbi and Nbn box down, reconnect all boxes as before, and then power up NBN box, wait 2 to 3 minutes, power up ISP modem/ router then power up orbi??
