Orbi RBR750 - scanning attacks?
Hi everyone, thanks so much in advance for any assistance on this. I have my Orbi AX4200, been set up for a few months. I have upgraded to the v4.6.3.7 firmware, and I'm aware that a few problems are occuring with dropouts. I've been experiencing something similar, but I'd love any advice on details that might be relevant to me.
- The dropouts only happen while on a "Guest" network that I have. As soon as it drops out, I can switch to the main one and it works again with no dropouts. I have no idea what configuration would make the difference, since the only option it gives me is to enable the network.
- Yesterday I started seeing much longer dropouts, and then the app would notify me that "Netgear Armor has detected and blocked a scanning attack". This definitely caused me some worry! It happens several times a day if I am on the Guest network.
- If I was on a video call, the network would be just fine. I can't open any new websites, but the internet still seemed to be working for some places.
- The Netgear Armor app and websites gives me absolutely nothing - no details, no URLs, nothing. The ONLY piece of information I can find is within the little notification itself, which says the attack comes "from" the IP of the device? Can anyone interpret what this means?
I'm of course worried about an actual attack or something malicious. None of the logs in the router settings themselves show anything of note. If there's any more details you need to help understand the problem let me know. I greatly appreciate any info that might help give me peace of mind, thanks so much!

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Can you try a factory reset and setup from scratch, do not enable Armor or SPC and see if same thing happens?

Thanks so much for your reply! So the ISP doesn't provide anything, but here in Australia all HFC connections get this thing called the NBN connection box, that my Orbi is plugged into. Here are some details - https://www.commander.com.au/sites/default/files/2018-12/nbn-hfc-user-guide.pdf
I'll try your steps, what is SPC so I know not to enable it?
Ok, no router at the modem.
Keep us posted...

Exact same problem, also an RBR750; on the Guest network, at some point can't access web pages etc, but an in-progress video call continues fine, report of a scanning attack on that laptop _from_ that laptop, and switching to the home network is fine.
