Orbi RBR750 1 Gig up and down at router, but 1 Gig up at PC and only 400-500 Mbps down
I Just switched ISP, and now have 1Gig fiber UP AND DOWN. I verified the speed at the router, using both the Orbi app speed test as well as the Orbi configuration webpage, and it is 1 Gig both ways. ...

Hi FURRYe38, thanks for replying.
Orbi Firmware: V4.6.9.11_2.3.5
Not quite sure what I'm looking at, but there's a Nokia unit P/N starting with 3MV007, which has a blue button labeled "ONT Reset", which is tie wrapped to a device with the Frontier logo identified as XGS-PON ONT, Model FRX523.
I believe my ethernet cable is a CAT5
Ethernet adapter is a Realtek PCI3 GBE Family Controller, latest driver the best I can tell.
I am running the OOKLA app as well as the browser-based speed tests, and they come up with the same result: my upload speeds are double the download speeds, i.e. close to 1 Gig up vs. 400-500 Mpbs down.
I don't have another PC or laptop for testing.

Hello DivBy0,
Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!
I understand that you are having issues with your download speeds on your PC. This can be due to the ethernet cable or your NIC. First, ensure that your NIC is up to date and can handle 1Gbps download speeds. Then check to ensure that your ethernet cable has not been compromised.

Hi Kevin,
sorry about the late reply. My NIC insists its drivers are up to date, and it definitely supports 1Gps (I do get 1 Gps UPLOAD speeds, just not download). As for the ethernet cable, visually it is in very good shape, and it's only about 4 years old. I can't rule out either as the problem, but again, since I AM getting the full 1Gps upload speed, it would be strange if the cable (or card for that matter) would only affect download speeds. Maybe I'll just replace the NIC, since the cable would require some attic action. Do you have a NIC recommendation for a Windows PC?
Regards

I would try a CAT6 cable in between the MODEM and RBR and from the RBR to the PC.

Hi FURRYe38,
thanks, and yeah, I think I have come around to having to drag 50' of CAT6 cable through the attic. You think 6A would be better for this distance?
Cheers!
