Orbi RBR750 FW version 4.6.14.3_2.3.12 consuming large data amounts
I'll go a step further with my similar situation:
I'm remotely connected to the Orbi through an OpenVPN tunnel that is normally not connected (OpenVPN built in to the Orbi was used), and If I believe the Orbi webpage, I have successfully BLOCKED Everything in the house from using the internet via the Access Control page, and yet there's still tons of traffic going through the Orbi. UPLOADs are way out of control. DOWNLOADs are somewhat normal since there's nothing that's allowed to use the internet (except my OpenVPN tunnel).
There are no PCs even connected to the Orbi currently so I'm somewhat NOT thinking there's a virus (but something is using all that data for uploads). However, I'm still trying to understand what is causing the massive data uploads.
Interestingly enough, after enabling Access Controls, and adding the Access Control BLOCKS, it looks like it required a reboot to actually implement the blocks.
NETGEAR support: Please fix this so a reboot isnt required, and document Access Controls much better since your average home user isnt likely to know that they should reboot the router after changing the access controls to block devices until you fix this!
