You are correct that many (most?) "Internet of Things" gizmos have a smartphone app that connects to the vendor "cloud" service.&nbsp; The IoT device also connects to that "cloud". This allows the app to control the device from any internet connection. (home, away, network, cellular, etc.)

However, some IoT device apps expect to be able to connect to the device on the local network.&nbsp; This local network connection might be required only during the initial setup phase.&nbsp; That is impossible because the Guest WiFi network is isolated from the primary network.&nbsp; If you eventually come across a gizmo that "just won't connect" on the Guest network, it would be worth trying the primary WiFi network at that time.

2.4Ghz is enabled by default on the RBRs main WLAN.

If you have v7 FW loaded on the RBR, then you can setup the separate IoT network for the devices and set 2.4Ghz only there on the RBRs web page.&nbsp;

One can use the GN however be aware that if your IoT device has a dependent associated app with it on a phone or pad, if the phone or pad is connected to the main WLAN, the app will fail to connect to the IoT device connected on the GN due to the isolation between the main WLAN and GN.&nbsp;

Possible that the apps may have remote or WAN side access coming back to the GN.&nbsp;
Directly connected apps that may not have WAN side access would be blocked between the GN and main WLAN if your mobile phone or pad is only connected to the main WLAN.&nbsp;
