ORBI RBR850 -- frequent disconnects to WoW server
Suddenly for no reason, since this morning, every 15-30 minutes my connection with WoW (World of Warcraft game) drops. I get disconnected but can quickly reconnect within the minute. For context, my ...

I had the same issue with Destiny 2, both on PC and PS4. I even happen to have a spare RBR850 router and tried swapping it out and still had the same issue. It seems to be a firmware issue which coincidentally installed last night.
1. Try downloading the firmware for your router and satellite(s) here: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rbk852.aspx#RBR850%20(Orbi%20Router)%20Firmware%20Version%203.2.9.2
2. Follow telnet instructions online to disable automatic updates for your Orbi: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6N1atnfZGYE
3. In the Firmware Update section click on the Manual Update tab. Follow the instructions to upload the unzipped chk file(s) you downloaded from Netgear’s website.

I just downgraded my FW to V3.2.9.2 and it is still disconnecting. Followed the instructions and used telnet to stop auto updating (and router is still showing 3.2.9.2) but no bueno :(
Maybe i should flash down even further
- cleverpixelsMar 10, 2020AspirantI ended up seeing the same disconnects after downgrading to that version too. I do still believe that firmware caused this issue as it only started happening yesterday morning. I might try the same thing and go down even further but I noticed that 3.2.9.2 added support for more than 2 satellites. Just a heads up.

If this only just started happening and was working prior, then this maybe a WoW services or an ISP issue.
You should file a support ticket if you feel this is a Orbi issue.

Good Luck.

Testing today didn't fair any better, I down-graded to 3.2.8 and factory restored it. Same issue. I tried turning things off and on in the WAN setting nothing changes. I have had the satellite off since its been a different firmware. As of right now I am testing again with my old Asus Router which is still setup with my wifi setting as before if that works without drops then its the Orbi.... and maybe some weird connection issue with the Cable Modem. I did have this issue (similar) before on the Asus router being to aggressive when it when to get a new IP from the cable modem (but that was once a week) and I changed the setting in the router (you can't in Orbi) but I am not sure that's the issue neither just throwing it out there. And I just saw the last post its not WOW. Its across all games that are sending data packets back and fourth all the time. To me this data is getting interrupted every 10-20 mintues for a split second but enough to drop the connection. Like I said all my other smart devices don't see any change and keep working right along except my Echo 5 Show will have a orange bar once in a while across the bottom for a few seconds showing it didn't have internet.
Do we have a common factor? I have Xfinity Internet (1 gig) and a Netgear CM1150V Modem.
Also has anyone tried factory restoring their cable modem? I am a little worried about doing that as I am not sure then if I need to reactivate it again and deal with all that or if it will reprovision on its own.
One last thing as I have been writing this my MMO have been running in the back ground now for over a 40 mintues without any drops so I have to say its an Orbi issue and wether its an Orbi issue with my cable modem thats yet to be seen.

Factory reset of a cable modem will not deactivate the modem from the ISP. Only clears out any user configurations and networking settings and buffers. You safe to perform the reset.
Has WoW been working for you with the RBR up to recently?
Is this a PC or game console that your seeing this with?
I have xbox and roommmate play CoD last nite with no issues. However my RBR850 is on a beta v11 version. Something you might ask Christian_R about and get access to the beta forum.
I'm on a 1G service connected to a CM1100 cable modem.

Hello Orbi AX Community,
May you check your CTS/RTS threshold under WiFi settings. If it's set to 64, may you try setting it to 2347 and update the thread with your results.
Thanks,
Christian

Thank you Christian. Will check mine as well. I think I saw this same value the other day. :smileyindifferent:
- DaytonaZ33Mar 10, 2020StarI’ve set the setting to 2347 and am testing.
Would this effect wired connections as well? Because if not then this is not the right tree we are barking up, because my issues are with wired and wireless devices alike.- cruisencodeMar 10, 2020Apprentice

Disconnecting as far as wifi devices or from WoW services? Both?

I am having the same issue with disconnects every 10 minutes or so in World of Warcraft. Originally I thought it may have been one of my wow addons casusing this but I disabled all addons and it still happened. I then tried switching from my wired connection to a wireless connection and still happened. Next I tried a different PC and still happened. After that I figured it was something with either my router of modem. So I factory reset my Arris NVG599 and same thing happened. Then I tried connecting directly to the modem and that allowed a stable connection by eliminating orbi from the picture. So after that I knew it was the orbi router so I did a factory reset as well and still had the disconnect issue. I even tried completely reinstalling Windows 10 and Wow and thast didnt work.
In summary I did the following troublshooting steps:
1) Disabled Wow addons
2) Reinstalled network drivers
3) Switched from wired connection to wireless
4) Tried on a different PC
5) Reinstalled Windows 10
6) Factory reset my ATT Arris NVG599
7) Factory reset Orbi router
The only thing that worked was connecting directly to my ATT router.
My Orbi is using Firmware Version V3.2.10.11_1.2.12

Your ISP modem has a built in router and wifi. What mode is this working in? Router mode or bridged?
This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktopIf wireless, make sure that the CTS and RTS values are changed from 64 to 2347. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
If any of this fails, please contact Christian_R:

same issues (no gaming devices, trying to do actual work); connection to win10 built in VPN disconnects internet, which clearly defeats the purpose and renders all work functions inoperable (particularly problematic given coronavirus issues, as need to be able to work remotely immediately!). has been happening for 2 days, coinciding with auto update of firmware. PLEASE FIX ASAP!
