Orbi router RBR750 not finding home wifi network?
This may sound a bit confused; however, I have a win 7 desktop that I need to connect to my home wifi network. I purchased an inexpensive USB wifi adapter dongle that is dual band 300mbps. This dongle worked fine on another win 10 machine (so I know it works). However, when I plug it into the win 7 machine, update the driver and confirm its existence in device manager the machine doesn't give me my home wifi as an option. It seems to see other networks eg: "Spectrum", "Netgear" and "Other" but it doesn't see the main one that all my devices can see. My iphones, ipads and even a win 10 desktop upstairs are all seeing "SmithNet" but the win 7 desktop does not. I've restarted everything, moved around the dongle to different ports, gone into CMD and done an ipconfig dnsflush, reset the winsock, gone into services and checked that wifi lan and dhcp are on etc. The desktop seems to see two networks that it calls "Other"; however, when I try to put in the SmithNet as the SSID with the relevant password it does not connect. I've even logged into the ORBI router to confirm the SSID of the home wifi. Very frustrated and would be grateful for any help.
