After downloading the satellite firmware file from the Netgear support site and extracting the firmware from the *.zip file, there is a method that some users have found enables them to update firmware on a satellite:
Orbi AX and AXE series satellites have a self service web page at 192.168.10.250. Given enough time after a satellite is factory reset and NOT connected to anything, this self service web page can be accessed by connecting a PC to the satellite with an Ethernet cable. (The process is a bit tediousđ The PC must be disconnected from the local network and cabled directly to the satellite. Set the PC to a Static IP in the 192.168.10.x/subnet with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Wait 5 minutes and open a web browser to 192.168.10.250 and the satellite web interface should appear. The current firmware running on the satellite will be displayed, and the Firmware Update menu option can be used to manually load a firmware image on the satellite. After the satellite reboots with the same firmware as the Orbi router, it can be powered off and reconnected to the Orbi network, where it should be recognized. Then, the PC can be returned to the regular DHCP setting and reconnected to the network.
