- You don’t need to do a factory reset. You just need to change Orbi from AP mode to Router mode AFTER you plug it in the new ONT.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.

Be sure to disable all wifi radios on the ISP Modem router. You can use a different SSID name and Password on the Orbi system you like too.
I'm aware of the double NAT issue - that's why I have disabled wireless on the ISP modem/router and set the Orbi Router to Access Point mode. This way the ISP modem/router will handle NAT, and I can make use of the Orbi's superior wi-fi. This is already what you suggested in your point 3. I'm happy enough with this setup for the short time it will be necessary.
When I transfer to the new ISP, my existing combined modem/router will be returned to the old ISP (it won't work with a full fibre connection anyway), so I will have just the Orbi which I will then revert back to router mode and connect direct to the new fibre ONT.
The gist of my original question was: what's the best way to change the current Orbi settings to the new ones required by my new ISP? Need I do a full factory reset, or just specify the log in requirements of my new ISP? I ask because I'm not sure whether any other fields will have been changed by my first switching to AP mode, then back again to router mode.
I would try changing the mode on the RBR from AP to Router. And while the RBR is rebooting and making the change, connect the RBR to the new ISP modem or ONT. See what happens. It should get connected ok.
