Hi, I installed an RBK 353 orbi wifi6 at my parents yesterday. I am left with the strangest wifi problem i ahve ever encountered. The Orbi interface shows Internet not connected, although the PC ...

After full resets of the Spark Modem, the Orbi and establishing the wifi and Orbi set up, it fallay seems to be working as it should with internet access across all devices. So, so far so good. It did however reassign the Orbi to an IP address of 10.0.0.1, so i wonder whether there was a clash between the Spark Modem and Orbi's desired IP? firmware now 4.4.0.10.

Yes, If Orbi is setting a 10.something DHCP LAN IP address pool, this means the ISP modem is using 192.168.1.1 which NG defaults too, Orbi avoids this when detected and changes to someting else.
This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Hi FURRYe38
Thanks for that. Ok, the clash I anticipated, and whilst I knew of the concept of undesirable double NAT, I had fogotten until your post - although once you mention it I now recall disabling my home modem for the same reason some years ago. Thanks for that.
I'll work through the options.. the ISP are not great on support and i am trying to support remotely from ourside NZ so .. we'll see how it goes. I will visit the Modem first and see if the settings are intuitive, if not then the ISP etc and work down the list. Thanks again, I'll drop back if I can't get anything to work. I guess if all else fails then a replacement router that can be confiured easier is the last resort.
