Thanks for the replies, I might just try it out. This all stems from upgrading my computer that does double duty as a Plex server as well (main computer duties, aside from Plex, is farting around on the internet, lol). It's one of those things where I looked at it and thought "I wonder if...", and that always leads to trouble.

Before I had the RBK963/RBE973, I was looking at picking up a mini-pc with 4x 2.5gig ports and installing pfsense to it. If I remember correctly, it was around that $250 when I priced it out with modest specs a couple years ago. For some reason, I really wanted to build my own router as the performance is supposed to be fantastic. I was planning on using that for the multigig option and run the wireless router setup I had in access point mode. I didn't go that route but it could be an option. I imagine prices have dropped since I was researching it and it might even work pretty rock solid and give you extra options for performance.
