RBK753 - long connection time from startup - windows
Hey folks: It's been a bit of a bear setting up this system. After finally updating firmware manually, and fighting to connect satellites, it is now taking 5-10 minutes for windows machines to a...

Glad that helped.
Please mark your thread as solved so others will know.
Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Are the Windows devices wireless or wire connected?

Firmware Version
V4.6.3.7_2.0.4. (But device crashed during firmware download at first setup. Satellites were updated manually, I have not been able to manually update the router firmware - it fails).Orbi router is connected via Ethernet to Verizon ONT (don't know the model). Orbi is providing DHCP.
Actiontec MI424WR connected (Orbi LAN to Actiontec WAN) for MOCA connection to DVR box. (Radio is disabled - this worked with my prior mesh system).
Windows devices connection via wire have no issues. Only those connected via Wifi.
Thanks for the quick response.

How are you trying to update the RBR FW? wired PC and web browser or auto update or thru Orbi app?
Try using the modems DMZ for the RBR in router mode. Your modem has a built in router already which is not recomended.
You might also try AP mode on the RBR as well.

Gah. I dug in tonight and bridged the Actiontec rather than just running off the WAN port. It seems to be working better - 3 of 5 windows devices are grabbing IPs wirelessly very quickly. (I just need to test the others). I'm not exactly sure why only the wireless windows devices were impacted - I'm thinking that both use the same 192.168.1.x gateway, and windows must somehow blast the WAN port for a response. (Not a network guru clearly).
If needed for other verizon users in my shoes who have a set top box - this link helped. (It is for a Quantum Gateway - but the info is there if you pick through the menues). I didn't forward any ports, but my DVR seems to be working.
Replace Fios Router with Your Router
I'm not going to mess with the firmware, as everything seems to be running. I think I was trying to use the file for satellites, not the router firmware. The filename is only a letter off - and must have picked the wrong file.
Thanks for the help - I have another question - but it is probably better for another thread.
